1970 Château Clinet

Still quite dark in color, but as expected for its age typical brownish red. A very concentrated nose of jammy fruit (red and dark), lightly spiced and with a touch of forest floor reaches first. Following this is an animalistic odor, like unwrapping that 2 pound grain fed piece of prime beef you just bought, very gamey and meaty indeed, a touch of leather, some garrigue (BBQ spices) and roast smells as well (dark roasted coffee and dark chocolate).

It comes on strong and full bodied being just a little high on acidity which luckily comes more balanced out after only a little while. It finishes a little light and dry, but all in all excellent length and power, and to put it simply : a great thoroughbred merlot.
