From Brasserie to Global Wine Player: The Story of Chris ThiranChris Thiran, founder of Belgium Wine Watchers and Best Wine Auctions, did not begin his journey as a traditional wine merchant. Instead, it all began in his own brasserie in Brasschaat, where his passion for gastronomy and fine wines gradually evolved into an international wine business. What began as a spontaneous purchase at a local wine auction quickly turned into a serious enterprise. Chris started collecting and selling fine wines, first within his restaurant, then through local advertisements and the acquisition of private wine cellars. By 2000, he officially launched Belgium Wine Watchers – a company that quickly outgrew its modest beginnings above his restaurant. Driven by entrepreneurial spirit, he later founded Best Wine Auctions, a modern digital auction platform combining transparency, quality, and user-friendliness.
